Dr. Vincent Duplan (2014-2016)
Vincent Duplan obtained his Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Nicolas Winssinger at the Institut de Science et d’Ingénierie Supramoléculaires (ISIS), University of Strasbourg in 2013. Then, in the same institute, he subsequently undertook postdoctoral studies in the group of Prof. Jean-Pierre Sauvage. In April 2014, he joined the group of Prof. Makoto Fujita at the University of Tokyo as a JSPS postdoctoral fellow. His current research interests focus on the development of new applications for the crystalline sponge method.
Dr. Bernd M. Schmidt (2014-2016)
Bernd M. Schmidt received his Ph.D. in 2013 after research on organic fluorine chemistry at the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany, and at the Institute for Molecular Science, Okazaki, Japan with Professor Dieter Lentz and Professor Hidehiro Sakurai, supported by the JSPS and the DFG. After a short stay at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, where his main research focused on photochromism in the group of Professor Stefan Hecht, he was a Humboldt fellow in the group of Professor Makoto Fujita.
Present address: Stefan Hecht Lab. at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin
Dr. Federico Bertani (2015-2016)
Federico received his Master Degree in Organic Chemistry at the University of Parma (Italy) in 2010, with a thesis on synthesis of pseudorotaxane systems calixarene based for functionalization of gold nanoparticles. After one year working at Eulip S.p.A. in quality control and R&D laboratories, in 2012 he started the Ph.D. in Materials Science under the supervision of Prof. Enrico Dalcanale (University of Parma): his research focused on synthesis of Single Molecule Magnets (SMMs) and tetraphosphonate cavitands for theranostic nanoparticles. In 2014 he spent six months at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Swager Group, where he worked on the development of materials for the sequestration of toxic cigarette smoke constituents. After obtaining his Ph.D., Federico joined the Fujita group as a postdoctoral researcher in 2015. His current research interest focuses on the development of a method for X-ray crystallography of biologically active compounds using self-assembled coordination cages.
